The world’s leading provider of compressed air compressor systems for marine use TMC won a contract with German MV WERFTEN to provide full service to two cruise ships being built for Genting Hong Kong.
The contract states that TMC will manufacture and deliver 4 x 85 kW marine compressors and 4 RD600 air dryers to each of the cruisers. The equipment will be delivered to the MV WERFTEN facilities in Wismar, Germany, where construction work on the cruise ships is being carried out.
The value of the contract has not yet been revealed. However, TMC managing director Per Kjellin said that “any supplier of equipment for the maritime industry would be proud to deliver technology to what will be the world’s largest cruise ship in terms of passenger capacity.”
Kjellin also assures that TMC, an international supplier of compressed air compressors for offshore and offshore use, “has an extensive track record of delivery to cruise ships, but it is always exciting to be able to participate in major projects like this.” This company is headquartered in Oslo with sales and service offices around the world.
On the other hand it is known that MV WERFTEN is building two “Global Class” cruisers for Star Cruises. These will have an approximate weight of 204,000 tons each and more than 340 meters in length, therefore they will be inside the largest ships in the market and will have capacity for more than 5,000 passengers distributed in 20 decks and 2,400 cabins. The delivery of the cruises is scheduled for 2020 and 2021.
MV WERFTEN is one of the most efficient cruise shipbuilders in the world. It has a 70-year history, consists of three shipyards in Wismar, Rostock and Stralsund in the German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommen (MV) and has one of the largest docks and covered manufacturing facilities in Europe.
